What We Do

ARCS Foundation Seattle is part of a national, non-profit, volunteer, women’s organization that supports the advancement of science and technology in the United States by providing financial awards to academically outstanding US citizens studying to complete degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The Seattle Chapter ARCS Foundation was founded in 1978, and to date has supported over 1,500 fellows with awards totaling more than $23 million.

In strategic partnership with the University of Washington and Washington State University, ARCS Foundation Seattle funds PHD students in the STEM disciplines, this year providing approximately $1 million dollars to support 180 fellows. Currently, 63 ARCS Fellowships are supported in perpetuity by named endowments with nearly $16 million in assets.

ARCS Foundation Seattle Fellowships provide a critical competitive edge in recruiting top graduate students. These highly capable individuals, selected by the universities, are catalysts who help build vibrant academic communities where teamwork, visionary insights and creativity flourish. The contributions of ARCS Foundation alumni employed in high-profile organizations in Washington State and around the country testify to the vitality and value of ARCS Foundation’s mission.

Our dedicated and hardworking membership is committed to fostering the success of these truly amazing individuals, the next generation of scientific leaders and innovators. In Fall 2021, Seattle Chapter ARCS members hosted our Annual Luncheon virtually with over 400 ARCS members, guests, and community partners celebrated the success of ARCS Foundation Seattle Chapter. The Luncheon raised over $300,000 in support of ARCS mission to support advancement in science and technology.

ARCS Foundation Seattle Chapter members actively engage with ARCS Fellows and university partners through a substantive programs including presentations, lab visits, site visits, and social gatherings. Members enjoy learning about cutting edge challenges and technologies, as well as forging friendships with ARCS Fellows, professors, and university administrators.
